Meet Ryan

Ryan Berry (he/him) is a photographer, writer and editor who works at The Daily Herald in Everett, Washington as a staff photojournalist.

His professional experience dates back to 2015 and includes working on staff at the Billings Gazette, Bozeman Daily Chronicle and Havre Daily News, all in Montana, and as a reporter, photographer and assistant director of photography at the Columbia Missourian in Mid-Missouri.

Ryan graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in photojournalism and a minor in art.

His work has received top recognition from organizations including the Montana Newspaper Association and the National Press Photographer’s Association. He has worked with collectives like the Too Tired Project and has been published by national outlets including the New York Times. He has also worked for non-profits like Investigate Midwest, and for magazines including Montana Outdoors.

Environment and conservation issues, along with the arts and hyperlocal culture top the list of subjects that captivate Ryan’s interest as a storyteller.
